What does SDG 15 mean?
SDG 15: Life on Land
SDG 15 stands for Life on Land. It focuses on protecting forests, stopping desertification, saving wildlife, and restoring nature.
In our eco house project, SDG 15 inspires us to use natural materials responsibly, protect green spaces, and support a healthy environment for all living things.
Key Targets of SDG 15 Include:
Combat deforestation and promote reforestation.
Preserve biodiversity, including endangered species and natural habitats.
Restore degraded land and soil, especially those affected by desertification, drought, and floods.
End poaching and trafficking of protected species.
Integrate ecosystem and biodiversity values into national and local planning.
Promote fair access to natural resources and the sharing of benefits from their use.
Why It Matters:
Forests cover 31% of the Earth's land area and are home to more than 80% of all terrestrial species.
Healthy ecosystems provide clean air, fresh water, food, and medicine.
Biodiversity is essential for climate regulation, pollination, and soil fertility.
